Dibentuk oleh kelima orang membernya. The GazettE merupakan salah satu dari band-band terkenal di label PS Company, tempat bernaung band-band lain seperti Kagrra dan alice nine. Meski musik rock yang menjadi jiwa dari band ini, mereka tidak takut untuk bereksperimen dengan musik mereka dan musik mereka luas tidak ada batasan dari soft ballad hingga punk rock bahkan beberapa lagunya terdapat unsur hip-hop. The GazettE adalah sebuah band visual, dimana penampilan mereka bervariasi dari single ke single dan album ke album, tetapi musik mereka selalu mencerminkan ‘Gazette’ dan rock.

(catatan : Ketika pertama kali dibentuk, awal mulanya The GazettE diketahui hanya sebagai Gazette dan akan diceritakan di biografi ini tentang perubahan nama mereka).

Gazette bermula pada awal tahun 2002, terdiri dari lima angota yang kesemuanya laki-laki, meski masih muda, mereka sudah cukup berpengalaman di dunia musik. Tiga dari personelnya telah bekerjasama di band-band lama (Ma’die Kusse dan Kar+te=zyAnose); dimana vokalisnya adalah Ruki, salah satu gitarisnya Uruha dan bassisnya Reita. Dua mantan member dari Artia melengkapi formasi awal ini; Aoi pada Gitar dan Yune pada drum. Setelah resmi bergabung di label Matina, mereka merilis single pertama, Wakaremichi, dan sebuah video dalam bentuk VHS pada bulan April, melalui berbagai acara dan perilisan omnibus dengan segera mengangkat nama mereka. Band ini pun sukses menggelar oneman pertama pada bulan Oktober di tahun itu. Pada akhir tahun mereka ikut ambil bagian di acara "FINAL PRELUDE 2002~2003 Matina PRESENTS" karena label Matina ini akan bubar.

Pada tahun 2003, Yune menggumumkan akan meninggalkan Gazette. Dia dengan segera digantikan oleh Kai (ex Mareydi†Creia) dan band ini lalu bergabung dengan label PS Company. Mereka ambil bagian di tur pertama bersama dengan rekannya dari band indie Hanamuke, dan merilis mini album pertama Cockyane Soup selanjutnya diikuti dengan perilisan dua mini album lainnya dua bulan sesudahnya. Pada sisa tahun, mereka melanjutkan dengan mengadakan tur Beauti-Fool's Fest 2003 bersama dengan artis lainnya seperti Merry dan D'espairsRay.

Gazette menggebrak tahun 2004 dengan mengadakan oneman di Shibuya AX (konser ini kemudian dirilis dalam bentuk DVD) dan saat itu juga mereka membuka fan club secara resmi. Mendekati akhir tahun, band ini merilis DVD live kedua dan kemudian mereka memberikan fans mereka apa yang telah dinantikan lebih dari dua tahun, yaitu album perdana mereka Disorder. Di bulan Desember, mereka ikut berpartisipasi di Beauti-Fool's Fest dan menggelar sebuah tur kecil.

Tahun 2005, Gazette nampaknya mengerahkan seluruh waktu mereka di bis tur atau di panggung karena hampir tiada hentinya mereka menggelar tur ke seluruh negeri. Beberapa item dirilis di antaranya tur dan photobook pertamanya "Verwelktes Gedicht", yang dijual di bulan September. Akhirnya mereka beristirahat singkat hingga bulan Desember yang dilanjutkan dengan keikutsertaannya pada acara "PEACE & SMILE CARNIVAL TOUR 2005" dengan memakai nama label dan merilis single Cassis yang menjadi single terakhir yang dirilis dibawah nama Gazette.

Tahun 2006 merupakan tahun yang sangat sibuk untuk Gazette. Mereka mengganti nama dari ‘Gazette’ yang ditulis dalam huruf Jepang, menjadi The GazettE, ditulis dalam bahasa Inggris, band ini menggebrak tahun itu dengan merilis sebuah album baru Nil. Mereka dengan segera melakukan tur besar-besaran, menjangkau seluruh Jepang dengan lebih dari tiga puluh pertunjukkan. Tur finalnya diadakan di Nippon Budokan, salah satu tempat penyelenggaraan terbesar di Jepang, dan habis terjual. Mereka juga mengadakan pertunjukkan Eropa pertamanya di Jerman pada akhir Juli, untuk menyenangkan fans internasional mereka. Kemudian masih di tahun itu, mereka membuka homepage resmi versi bahasa inggris pada bulan Oktober.

Mereka mengakhiri 2006 dan mengisi tahun 2007 dengan jadwal tur dan single-single baru sebelum mengumumkan perilisan album baru STACKED RUBBISH pada musim panas, dan penyelenggaran dua buah tur. Tur pertama akan dimulai pada awal Juni, yang diadakan dari musim panas hingga gugur, dan tur keduanya akan menutup bulan musim dingin. Untuk menyenangkan para fans internasional mereka, The GazettE memutuskan untuk kembali ke Eropa dengan mengadakan sebuah rangkaian tur kecil yang akan diadakan di Jerman, Perancis, Finlandia, dan Inggris pada bulan Oktober.

Consisting of 5 members, The GazettE forms one of the most popular
bands in the PSCompany label, where other bands such as Kaggra, and alicine also record. Rock music is definitely what the band’s about, even though they’re not afraid of experimenting with their sound and their songs can range from soft ballads, to punk rock to even songs with elements of hip-hop! The GazettE is a Visual Rock band, often changing styles every album and signle they release, while always keeping their ‘Gazette’ rock style.


BIOGRAPHY

(note: When the bands was first formed, The GazettE was simply known as Gazette, and will be referred to as Gazette up until where the name-change took place)

Gazette was formed in 2002, formed by 5 men who, despite their youth, had a lot of experience on the music scene.
3 of the members had already worked together in previous bands (Ma’die Kusse and Kar+te=zyAnose); Vocalist Ruki, the guitarist Uruha and Bassist Reita. Eventually, two ex-Arita members joined to complete the band; Aoi on guitar, and Yune as drummer. Originally, they were signed with the Matina label, where they released the first single Wakaremichi and the
video VHS in april. They try and get more fame by doing several events and by releasing songs on omnibus CDs. It worked, and in October that year, they did their first real solo live show. At the end of the year they participated in the Matina Label event called * FINAL PRELUDE 2002-2003 Matina PRESENTS*, after which the Matina Label quit

At the beginning of 2003, Yune announced his decision to leave Gazette. He was immediately replaced by Kai (ex Mareydi†Creia) and the band signed with the PSCompany label. They went on their first tour with Hanamuke and released their first mini album Cockayne Soup, which was followed by two other mini albums in the 2 following months. They have continued to join tours and events for the rest of the year, such as 2003’ Beauti-Fool’s Fest with bands like Merry and D’espairsRay.

Gazette started 2004 by holding a solo show at Shibuya AX (the concert was later released on DVD) and they started their first official fan group. Close to the end of the year, the band released their second DVD, and gave the fans that which they have wanted to have since 2 years… their
first full album, DISORDER. In December, they joined that year’s Beauti-Fool’s Fest, and had a small tour.

In 2005, Gazette spent most their time on tour. They released a few items between their tours, and thir first photshoot “Verwelktes Gedicht” was put on sale in September. They finally took a break until December, when they joined the “PEACE & SMILE CARNIVAL TOUR 2005”, and released their single CASSIS, which would be the last single released under the name ‘Gazette’.

2006 was a very busy year for Gazette. They changed their name from Gazette, written in Japanese, to The GazettE, written in English. They release a new album, called NIL, and immediately go on a massive tour in Japan, doing around 30 shows. The last venue was a sold out Nippon Budokan, one of the largest venues in Japan. They made their first appearance in Germany, Europe in July, which resulted in gaining a lot more international fans. In October, an English version of their site was added, giving American fans the hope that they would one day visit there, too.

They finished 2006 and entered 2007 with even more touring and new singles, before announcing their new summer album STACKED RUBBISH, and another two tours. The first one will start in july, go through the summer and fall, and the second tour will cover the winter.
